John WATTS & Nancy AVERY
John & Nancy lived in Bethnal Green, London. They departed Blackwall Dock, London on 'Coromandel' 1st September 1836 with their infant son John Avery WATTS, arriving at Holdfast Bay on 12 January 1837. John & Nancy lived for a time on the banks of the River Torrens at Hindmarsh before moving to Nairne in 1857, where John set up a brickyard (at Scott Creek). They had 14 children, many of whom worked in the family brickyard. John died 20th June 1895 at Littlehampton (83yrs). Nancy died 30th November 1995 at Blakiston (77yrs). Both are buried at the Blakiston Church.

Henry JACOBS
Henry was from Birmingham, England. He was convicted of stealing six rabbits and sentenced to 7 years transportation to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania). Henry spent some months on the convict hulk 'Dolphin', moored at Chatham (on the River Thames) and on 17 August 1829 he was transported to Van Diemen's Land on 'Prince Regent'. The ship arrived 10th January 1830. He was released from servitude on 13th October 1836 and arrived in S.A. on the coastal trader 'Siren', from Launceston on 27th February 1838. He worked his passage by tending several hundred sheep that were being shipped from Launceston to South Australia. Henry JACOBS married Harriet Ann OVENS 10th March 1840 at the Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide. They had 12 children. Henry died at Hay Valley 8th April 1880 (71yrs). Harriet died at Woodside on 29th Nov 1907 (82yrs)

William OVENS & Harriet Maskelyne AUST
William and Harriet were married on 27th January 1825 at St. Mary's, Lambeth, Surrey. They departed Catherine Docks, London on 'Prince Regent' 6th June 1839 with their children Harriet Ann, Jemima Louise & John. After a difficult voyage, they arrived at Port Adelaide on 25th September 1839 only to find the colony in the grip of recession. Just over five months after arriving, Harriett Ann OVENS married Henry JACOBS on 10th March 1840 at Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide. Harriet Ann was 15 years old and Henry was 31 years old. The marriage was witnessed by Harriet (her mother) but no mention was made of William (her father). Henry JACOBS returned to Hay Valley with his new wife Harriet Ann. Harriet's mother and her sister Jemima went with them. On 24th October 1840, William was found to have died by a gunshot wound to the head and the coroners finding was that he did it to himself while under the influence of temporary insanity. Harriett Maskelyne OVENS (nee AUST) married Mark SINCLAIR on 11th Jan 1841. I have not yet discovered anything about their life except for two birth records that list them as parents.

George WILLIAMSON
Several men of the same name came to South Australia and exactly which one was our George WILLIAMSON has been hard to track down definitively, but I think he arrived on 29th October 1839 on 'Superb' from Greenock, Scotland. Our George WILLIAMSON (45yrs) married Johannah MAHER (35yrs) on 12th February 1861 at the Catholic Church at Mount Barker. I have not been able to ascertain when Johannah arrived in South Australia. She may have been Johannah WELSH or Johannah WALSH. They had 5 children, all born in the Inverbrackie area. George and Johannah had a long association with Inverbrackie and later, Dawesley. George had multiple convictions for being a rogue and a vagabond in his later years. George (possibly) died 8th July 1894 (77yrs). Johannah died on 31st July 1895 at Dawesley, most likely living with her daughter Jane WILLIAMSON, who had married Henry JACOBS (junior).
